District Admin Raises

8/26/2025

I need to share some information that REA leadership learned yesterday. We have reached out to the District for clarification on the following matter and they have refused to confirm or deny our understanding of District admin raises over the summer before the end of the week. With OEA’s assistance, however, we believe we are reading the adopted RSD 2025-26 budget and new information correctly and that members deserve to know now.
In short, despite the fact Superintendent Carapelo informed members this week that the “budget is tight,” that cuts “will impact students,” and that there is little room in the budget for “supplies, repairs, and maintenance,” it appears the District has found extra money to boost some admin salaries at the top of the RSD hierarchy.
Three positions labeled in the old Organizational Chart as “Executive Directors” have had their titles changed to “Managing Officers.” With the change in title, it appears they were also handed a 15.7% raise. That’s over $26,000 more each!
We continue to seek clarification and an explanation where they found this money and why they made this expense a priority. We also have requested information on other District-level admin positions to see if anyone else in RSD administration received raises above and beyond the COLA listed in RSD’s official adopted budget.
