Latest RSD Offer Does Not Move the Needle on Salaries

The district's latest proposal on salaries is 3.0, 2.0, and 1.5% per year over three years. This "offer" does not even keep pace with inflation and traps members salaries at the bottom of the Metro 14.

RSD simply does not appear to "get it." Staying at the bottom of the Metro 14 means we will continue to lose our most talented educators and we will remain unable to attract the best, brightest, and most diverse candidates. On top of this, the district wants to hold the line on early retirement medical compensation at $600 per month for 36 months. These numbers have not been increased since 1994--- 27 years ago. Let's move with the times RSD!

The district came unprepared to continue discussions on Article 26, Student Services. Article 27, Class Size Caseload Guidelines, remain on hold pending action from the legislature on Senate Bill 580. SB 580 would make negotiations on class and caseload numbers a mandatory subject of bargaining. If passed, RSD will have to counter on REA's initial proposal.

The next and last session for this school year is scheduled for Thursday, 6/24/21, at 5:00. If an agreement is not reached the contract will roll over into the next year. Negotiations would resume sometime in the early fall of 2021.

RSD Continues to Hold REA Salaries to Last in the Metro 14

Following two weeks of anticipation for a fair offer on salaries, the district declined to make a counter on COLA. RSD is still offering only 1% each year for the next three years. This would sink REA members even further behind last place in the metro 14 district salary ranks.

The two sides were able to reach a tentative agreement on Article #7, Employee Work Year. REA members were granted one late start Monday per academic quarter for member-directed activities to implement professional development training.

The next session is scheduled for Thursday, 6/10/21, when REA will bring a counter for Article #5, Employee Rights, on dual language translation of curriculum materials. RSD will be bringing counters on articles #22 Compensation, 23 Benefits, and 26-A,B,C Student Services.
